The Nest

One day I was playing with my friend Jordan. It was almost time for playtime to be over. She found a baby bird's nest. There were two in it. They didn't look very cute. A few days later, my mom took a picture. My sister and I like to check it every once in a while. -Naomi

The Crows Ate the Eggs

Hi. I'm Bethany. We used to have a pet turtle, except we let it go in the pond. Then it swam away for a little while and then it came to shore and laid its eggs. We went over there twice to scare away the birds because they were trying to eat the eggs. On the second time, we looked in the hole and all we saw was dirt. We dug a little bit, but no more eggs. We feel so sad. Maybe the crows took the eggs, maybe they didn't. We feel so sad that the eggs are gone. The mamma turtle didn't take care of her babies. We told our neighbor about it. I don't like whichever bird that was. I don't like that bird. My baby sister is sad about it too. We all ran over there to see, but no more eggs. -Bethany

Hi, my name's Naomi. One time my Dad came home from work. I was playing with my friend Jordan. He called me to come see the turtle that he found in the road. We didn't know she was pregnant at first. Jordan, my friend, was the first one to find out. Then, my friend Jordan invited me to go swimming, then we left the turtle by the tree with no cage or cooler. When we came back, the turtle was gone. A few days later, we saw it again. We let it go again and then we saw it one morning. We knew it was pregnant so we let it go that morning. One morning it lay eggs across the street. She didn't take care of her eggs very much. She laid them in a hole. We chased birds away twice. The second time, the eggs were gone. The turtle never came back. It stayed in the pond for hours. We didn't know the eggs were gone. We went down to check on them...they weren't there! That was the time we found out the eggs were gone. We were so sad! We went back accross the street, back into our house. We were so, so sad. We were looking forward to seeing the baby turtles hatch. Since this day, we haven't seen the mamma turtle. -Naomi
